Jasonville  Fire  Station  Dedication

The flood in June 2008 left Jasonville and surrounding areas without potable water for eight days. Many volunteers and agencies worked nonstop to assist our residents and others effected in this time of need.

The flood actually made this building possible. A Federal Grant through OCRA (Office of Community and Rural Affairs) made funds available to governments who were affected by the massive flooding.

The Employees of Southern Indiana Development Commission (SIDC), worked hand in hand with fire department personnel and Mayor Terrell to apply for and receive the funding for this building.

The funding was $500,000.00 with no local match. Contracts were awarded to Schroeder and Associates as project engineers and to Wolfe Construction as the General Contractor.

The original Fire Station (now the museum) built in 1907 and the previous station built in 1976 still stand just east of the new facility. We feel this new building will be a beautiful addition to the city and should serve the city well into the future.  On behalf of the City of Jasonville and the Jasonville Fire Department, Thank You for
sharing in this monumental event with us. ul event
